Ripley is a perfect 9-0 against Herbert Hoover since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Huskies at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Ripley sitting on six straight wins and Herbert Hoover on five.
Ripley barely beat Greenbrier East the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings never let the Spartans get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Monday.
Greenbrier East's batters probably weren't too happy with Bryson Casto, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up zero walks). Casto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Meadows, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Keller, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Ripley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenbrier East struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, Herbert Hoover had just enough and edged out Princeton 1-0 on Monday.
Princeton's batters probably weren't too happy with Riley Johnson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (he gave up four walks).
At the plate, Herbert Hoover's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Grigsby, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Cam Samples, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Ripley's victory bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Herbert Hoover, their win bumped their record up to 20-10.
Ripley skirted past Herbert Hoover 5-4 when the teams last played back in April. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
