It was a good run, but the Branham Bruins unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Evergreen Valley by a score of 60-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (56), Branham still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Branham lost, one person who can't be blamed is Quinn Godfrey. Despite the final result, she scored 44 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Godfrey has scored all season.
Evergreen Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lealah Rowden out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Rowden is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryka Aprameyan, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Branham's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2. As for Evergreen Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.
Branham will take on Christopher at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christopher will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Branham is ranked 25th). As for Evergreen Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pioneer is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
