Mills had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-10 to make it four. They fell just short of the Woodside Wildcats by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-8 on Tuesday.

Nick Lafon was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Joshua Huei was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
As for Woodside, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
On Woodside's side, Cruz Torres made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Torres was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Woodside gave Jax Enochs the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave Enochs a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, Mateus Mokhtarani was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was John Tinson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Looking ahead, Mills will challenge Terra Nova at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodside, they will take on Lowell at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
