The Galt Warriors will face off against the El Dorado Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Galt has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while El Dorado will come in with three straight victories.
Friday just wasn't the day for Galt's offense. They came up short against Bradshaw Christian on Friday, falling 10-0.
Meanwhile, El Dorado made easy work of Foresthill on Saturday and carried off a 9-1 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by eight runs or more this season.
Joe Parsons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has become a key player for El Dorado: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Parsons was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clay Garrett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Garrison Ewing was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
El Dorado pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Galt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Galt has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like El Dorado struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Galt might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from El Dorado when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Galt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
