After losing to the Dover Longhorns the last time they met, the Covington-Douglas Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Covington-Douglas managed a 32-28 win over Dover on Saturday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Covington-Douglas has scored all year.
Covington-Douglas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ford Smith led the charge by scoring 11 points. Derrek Daugherty was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Covington-Douglas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Dover, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covington-Douglas will square off against Mulhall-Orlando at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dover, Dover and Okeene will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
