The Windber Ramblers came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Southern Fulton by a score of 55-43. That's another feather in the cap for Windber, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Kaylie Gaye, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cailin Jablon, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Southern Fulton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrea Elder. Despite the final result, she dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and ten blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynne McQuait, who scored six points.
Windber is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Southern Fulton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windber will take on Glendale at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glendale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 590th, while Windber is ranked 199th). As for Southern Fulton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against McConnellsburg at 7:30 p.m.
