The West Wolfpack lost against the Lathrop Spartans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. West took a serious blow against Lathrop, falling 54-27. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West in their matchups with Lathrop: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Athena Pastran. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points. Pastran scored a full 40.7% of West's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Hallman, who scored 5 points.
Lathrop was led to victory by Shakara Porter and Tatianna Lowery. Porter scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals, while Lowery scored 21 points. Porter is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sierra Adams, who scored 5 points.
West now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Lathrop, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
West will head out on the road to face off against Golden Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Lathrop is on the road again on Thursday and play against Linden at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th.
