Baseball Recap: Forest Park Comes Up Short

Forest Park had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it five. They fell 8-5 to the Mays Raiders. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Andre Turnipseed made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Forest Park: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmello Turner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.

As for Mays, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-5-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for they as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

On Mays' side, Amari Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Robinson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damien Bland, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brandon Muldrow, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Forest Park will be playing at home against Midtown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mays will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers' contest: after the Panthers face off against the Knights, they'll take on Mays again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
