The Burroughs Bears will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Pasadena Bulldogs at 5:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burroughs had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They breezed by Arcadia on the road to the tune of 54-9. The team accrued 42 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Burroughs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariam Fahs, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Elizabeth Amoroso was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Pasadena posted their biggest win since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 60-27 win over Hoover. Given Pasadena's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Hoover is ranked 1141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burroughs pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.6 points. As for Pasadena, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-9.
Everything came up roses for Burroughs against Pasadena in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-23 victory. Does Burroughs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pasadena turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
