You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Gregori Jaguars's strategy against the Modesto Panthers on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Gregori blew Modesto out of the water with a 56-19 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-10.
Gregori found their leader in underclassman Alanah Lopez, who scored 18 points along with six steals. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Veronica Whitten was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Gregori has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for Modesto, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Gregori will be playing at home against Pitman at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pitman will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Gregori surely won't give up without a fight. As for Modesto, they will head out on the road to challenge Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Turlock's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Modesto has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
