After a string of five wins, the Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Community Christian at home and fell 78-51. Pamlico Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-25.
James Howard and Max Cruz certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Howard almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, while Cruz scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Howard hasn't dropped below 16 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Elijah Wright, who scored seven points.
Community Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Gattis, who scored 18 points along with five steals. Tavares Williams was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Pamlico Christian Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9. As for Community Christian, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1.
