Softball Recap: Montrose Has No Trouble Against Delta + How To Watch

Montrose had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Delta on Friday. The Red Hawks were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Bentley Schiller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaytli Cannizzo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Montrose hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Montrose's record now sits at 5-1. As for Delta, they moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Montrose wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-1 win against Eagle Valley on the 6th. As for Delta, they have also already played their next match, an 18-7 victory against Gunnison on the 9th.
