The Madera South Stallions will head out on the road to challenge the Torres Toros at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Monday, Madera South lost to the Warriors at home by a decisive 58-43 margin. While losing is never fun, Madera South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 751st, while the Warriors are ranked 334th).
BRIANNAH LORTA put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 23 points. That was a full 53.5% of Madera South's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was MAYRILIN VASQUEZ, who scored 12 points.
Torres only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point they dealt the Hornets on Monday. Torres blew past the Hornets 57-23 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Torres.
Madera South has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. As for Torres, their win bumped their record up to 17-10.
Madera South came up short against the Toros in their previous matchup back in January, falling 40-34. Can Madera South avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
