The third road contest was the charm for the Madera Coyotes, as they earned their first road win of the season. They managed a 49-45 victory over Porterville on Saturday. For Madera, this counts as revenge for the 50-22 loss Porterville walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2017.
Porterville's loss came despite strong showings from Ryleigh Schoonover and Amaya Cortez. Schoonover dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Cortez scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Cortez also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Madera's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Porterville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madera will take on Bullard at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bullard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Madera in California (Bullard is ranked 121st, while Madera is ranked 389th). As for Porterville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Golden West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Golden West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Thursday.
