Football Recap: Scotland Comes Up Short

If Scotland was riding high fresh off their 49-26 takedown of Overhills last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Fighting Scots and the Pinecrest Patriots didn't end well, with the Fighting Scots falling 36-21. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Scots in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the loss, Scotland still got an impressive performance from Tjurian White, who rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Chris Najm was his usual excellent self, rushing for 193 yards and four TDs for Pinecrest. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Najm a new career-high.

Scotland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Pinecrest, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Scotland and Pinecrest will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Fighting Scots see the field they'll take on Gray's Creek at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Pinecrest, their break will end when they face Jack Britt at 7:30 p.m. on October 3.
