You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans's strategy against the Derby Red Raiders on Friday. Waterbury Career Academy enjoyed a cozy 80-63 win over Derby. Given Waterbury Career Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Derby is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Waterbury Career Academy was led to victory by Zaire Lott and Andrew Williams. Lott scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Williams scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Lott is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season.
