The Pacific Ridge Firebirds will face off against the Borrego Springs Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Pacific Ridge will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Tri-City Christian, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Firebirds walked away with an 8-4 win over the Eagles on Tuesday.
Jack Wibbenmeyer was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season. Mel McLaughlin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Pacific Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, while Borrego Springs put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Hamilton. The Rams were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Bobcats. The game marked the Rams' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Joey Rocha made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Borrego Springs got a massive performance out of Christopher Alcaraz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brady Perry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Pacific Ridge's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Borrego Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pacific Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Borrego Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.2 strikeouts.
