Godinez Fundamental and the Argonauts are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Garden Grove Argonauts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Godinez Fundamental has nine straight wins, the Argonauts have eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Godinez Fundamental beat the Knights 44-40.
Godinez Fundamental's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julissa Mota, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Esteban, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Garden Grove came up short against the Seahawks on Tuesday and fell 39-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Garden Grove in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now lost six in a row.
Godinez Fundamental is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Garden Grove, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Godinez Fundamental against the Argonauts in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 55-25 win. Will Godinez Fundamental repeat their success, or do the Argonauts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
