The Washington Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-46 to American. If Washington hoped to take revenge for the 53-33 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Zariyah Hughes and Jordyn Yamaguchi certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Hughes scored eight points along with 13 rebounds, while Yamaguchi scored 15 points.
Washington's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-5. As for American, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington will face off against Irvington at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Irvington will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. American's road trip will continue as they head out to face Moreau Catholic at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Moreau Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than American in California (Moreau Catholic is ranked 215th, while American is ranked 457th).
