Penn Treaty's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 41-18 loss to Sankofa Freedom Academy might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Penn Treaty has suffered since December 11, 2023.
Despite the loss, Penn Treaty had strong showings from Aliyah Rogers, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Destiny Speach, who scored four points along with two steals. That was a full 77.8% of Penn Treaty's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Penn Treaty dropped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penn Treaty will challenge Philadelphia High School for Girls at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Philadelphia High School for Girls' defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Penn Treaty's offense will have their work cut out for them. Sankofa Freedom Academy on the road again on Saturday and play against Simon Gratz on January 27th.
