It was fun while it lasted, but Springport's undefeated season came to an end after  six games  on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory  and fell  69-68 to the Lenawee Christian Cougars. The loss put an end to the Spartans' undefeated start to the season.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Dallas Higelmire, who  went 6 of 14  en route to 16  points and four  steals. The dominant performance gave  Higelmire a new career-high in  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jake Kregel, who  went 8 of 10  on his way to 19 points along with seven  assists and three  steals.
 Even though they lost, Springport was working as a unit and  finished the game with 17  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lenawee Christian only racked up 11  assists.
 Lenawee Christian was led to victory by  Jaxon Salenbien and  Aidan Kaulins.  Salenbien  went 13 of 22  on his way to 37 points and three  steals, while  Kaulins  almost  dropped  a triple-double on 13 points, 12  boards,  and nine  steals. With that strong performance,  Kaulins is now averaging an impressive 3  steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of  Seth Davis, who  posted eight points in addition to five  rebounds and three  steals.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Springport  fell to 6-1. As for Lenawee Christian, the  win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
 Springport will have a little extra prep time after the  loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bronson at 7:00  p.m.  on January 9th. Bronson will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  victory, something Springport surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lenawee Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  matchup,  a  58-44  defeat against Tri-Unity Christian on the 4th.
