Basketball Recap: Andrean Falls Despite Big Games from Lindsay Arcella and Maddie Walton

If Andrean was feeling good fresh off their 51-15 takedown of Griffith last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Andrean Fighting 59ers fell 44-31 to the Rensselaer Central Bombers on Tuesday. The Fighting 59ers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bombers from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Andrean had strong showings from Maddie Walton, who went 8 for 10 on her way to 16 points, and Lindsay Arcella, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Walton has posted since back in January.

Even though they lost, Andrean smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rensselaer Central only pulled down two offensive boards.

Rensselaer Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Courtney Mathew, who had 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Radtke, who earned seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Andrean now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rensselaer Central, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Andrean didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-39 victory against Hanover Central on the 18th. As for Rensselaer Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-26 win against Winamac on the 21st.
