The Pine Lake Prep Pride will face off against the Lake Norman Charter Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Lake Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
Pine Lake Prep will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Mountain Island Charter, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pride were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Raptors on Tuesday. Considering the Pride have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emery Jensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, nine RBI, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ava Cornacchione and Sydney Gillmore did most of the damage at the plate: Cornacchione scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Gillmore scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Cornacchione a new career-high. Maggie Autry was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Pine Lake Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against West Rowan, falling 10-2.
Lake Norman Charter saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Gadd, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Pine Lake Prep's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Lake Norman Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Lake Norman Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pine Lake Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .511. It's a different story for Lake Norman Charter, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Pine Lake Prep's hitters?
