The San Fernando Tigers will face off against the Venice Gondoliers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
San Fernando proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by six) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Verdugo Hills 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since February 22nd.

Ray Pelayo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Pelayo wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Torres, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Venice came tearing into Monday's game with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Unicorns. The result was nothing new for the Gondoliers, who have now won 15 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Nic Gholam looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Venice got a massive performance out of Charlie Nisbet, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Daniel Quiroz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
San Fernando is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Venice, they pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.
San Fernando couldn't quite get it done against Venice when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as they fell 7-2. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
