The Hillsboro Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Northwest Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Hillsboro needed a bit of extra time to put away North County. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Ashley Hilton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ally Uphoff was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Maizy Sabourin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Hillsboro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Northwest not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 8th (when they won 15-5). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Webster Groves.
Like Hillsboro, Northwest also got a great game from a two-way player: Adeline Paszkiewicz. Throwing, Paszkiewicz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Kaylee Eddings struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and only one walk). At the plate, Paszkiewicz went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Eddings went 3-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Mulkey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Lewellen, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
The victory got Hillsboro back to even at 5-5. As for Northwest, their record now sits at 7-8.
Hillsboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Northwest in their previous matchup back in September of 2021, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
