Jim Thorpe and the Spartans are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Jim Thorpe Olympians will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the North Schuylkill Spartans at 7:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Jim Thorpe: they have been struggling with nine straight losses at home, while the Spartans have snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Jim Thorpe had to suffer through a rough 64-28 loss at the hands of the Eagles. Jim Thorpe has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite their loss, Jim Thorpe saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sarah Hartman, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Hartman continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylah Yeakel, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, North Schuylkill can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Panther Valley with a sharp 59-37 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-10.
Jim Thorpe's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for North Schuylkill, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Jim Thorpe was dealt a bruising 57-12 loss at the hands of the Spartans in their previous matchup back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Jim Thorpe was down 42-6.
