Damien extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-3-1. They came up short against the St. John Bosco Braves, falling 11-0. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
Damien saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Corder, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for St. John Bosco, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by eight runs or more this season.
On St. John Bosco's side, Jack Champlin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Champlin has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Brayden Krakowski looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025.
Back at the plate, St. John Bosco got a massive performance out of Miles Clark, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Clark has launched this season. James Clark was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Damien wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-5 loss against Orange Lutheran on the 18th. As for St. John Bosco, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-0 victory against JSerra Catholic on the 17th.
