The Meyersdale Red Raiders's six-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They greeted the New Year with with a 40-22 victory over Turkeyfoot Valley Area. That's another feather in the cap for Meyersdale, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Meyersdale had a senior duo take command as Laurel Daniels scored nine points along with five steals and Izabella Donaldson scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Donaldson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Walters, who scored seven points.
Meyersdale's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meyersdale will play host again and welcome North Star, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (North Star is ranked 541st, while Meyersdale is ranked 538th). Turkeyfoot Valley Area won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Johnstown Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Johnstown Christian and Turkeyfoot Valley Area are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
