The Franklin Knights will head out on the road to take on the Meadville Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Franklin is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Meadville in Pennsylvania (Franklin is ranked 267th, while Meadville is ranked 658th).
Last Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Franklin beat Oil City 42-37.
Franklin can attribute much of their success to Jennifer Blum, who scored 12 points along with two steals, and Katie Boal, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Boal is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Stevens, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Meadville, who are still winless after their 12th game. They were beaten by Warren 61-21 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Meadville has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Franklin's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Meadville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
Everything came up roses for Franklin against Meadville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-21 win. Does Franklin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Meadville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
