Football Recap: Spring Hill Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Spring Hill and St. James Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Spring Hill had to settle for second. They took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder. The Broncos' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Wells, who picked up 103 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 31 yards and one TD. Jordan Miller handled things on the ground, rushing for 82 yards.

Even if they lost, Spring Hill's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Brooks Bayer was the leader with two. Another thorn in St. James Academy's side was Kyle Stewart, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. James Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake House, who rushed for 108 yards and a pair of scores. John Hornback was another key player, throwing for 119 yards and one touchdown.

Spring Hill's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for St. James Academy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Spring Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. James Academy, they will challenge Mill Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
