There's no place like home for the Cochranton Cardinals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They rang in the new year with a 56-45 win over Saegertown on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cochranton also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Cochranton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shelby McBryar out in front who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Eve Pfeiffer was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Cochranton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Saegertown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cochranton will take on Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saegertown, they will head out on the road to face off against General McLane at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (General McLane is ranked 377th, while Saegertown is ranked 402nd).
