Despite the loss, Carlsbad got top-tier performance from BROCK WRIGHT, who rushed for 151 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. WRIGHT really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. ROBERT CASTANEDA also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Hobbs entered their tilt with Organ Mountain on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed past the Knights to the tune of 51-12. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Carlsbad better keep an eye on Junior Medrano. He was instrumental in Hobbs' win, rushing for 165 yards and two scores on only nine carries, while also throwing for 148 yards and one touchdown. Medrano's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 124 rushing yards. Shamus Wright was another key back, rushing for 89 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hobbs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 318 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 313 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Hobbs, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Justice French, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Hobbs' record now sits at 7-2. As for Carlsbad, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.
Carlsbad couldn't quite get it done against Hobbs in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 28-19. Thankfully for the Cavemen/Cavegirls, Omarrion Kennedy (who rushed for 84 yards and four scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
