The California Grizzlies will face off against the Amador Valley Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. California is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for California after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Livermore.
Tommy Casserly was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Casiano was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Phinney was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
While Amador Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on American with a sharp 15-2 win on Monday.
Vince Maiorana was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Aidan Foley, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Amador Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American only posted a batting average of .231.
Amador Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for California, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. California hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Amador Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
California skirted past Amador Valley 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does California have another victory up their sleeve, or will Amador Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
