Baseball Recap: Baker Takes a Loss

If Baker was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Pleasant Home last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Baker Gators fell just short of the Central Jaguars by a score of 9-8 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Rand Stokes was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kase Armstrong also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The loss snapped Baker's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Central, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Looking ahead, Baker will take on Notre Dame at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Notre Dame has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something Baker will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Lighthouse Private Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
