Woodward Academy barely beat Lakeside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The War Eagles blew past the Vikings 11-2 on Monday. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.
Cymone Woodfaulk was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Claire Cavanaugh was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Rion King was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Woodward Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside struck out six times.
