They were the victim of a rough 57-36 loss at the hands of Bonita Vista. It was the first time this season that Mater Dei Catholic let down their fans at home.
Mater Dei Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Awen Carrillo, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Valentina Aranalde who scored nine points.
Bonita Vista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mahliya Wilson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Haydee Arancibia-hardwick was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Mater Dei Catholic's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-12. As for Bonita Vista, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-11.
Mater Dei Catholic will look to defend their home court on Friday against Olympian at 6:30 p.m. Olympian is coming into the game with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Mater Dei Catholic will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Bonita Vista, they will face off against Eastlake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonita Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 262 points over their last four contests.
