Softball Recap: Crisp Academy Has No Trouble Against Westwood

Crisp Academy's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Westwood. The result was nothing new for Crisp Academy, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Laura Evans made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Crisp Academy got a big performance out of Ansley Simpson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mary Margaret Gibbs was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Crisp Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Crisp Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Westwood, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Coming up, Crisp Academy will face off against Fullington Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Westwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
