It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Monterey ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the North Salinas Vikings 2-1. The Dores haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ryan Lemaire looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Monterey saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Takehara, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Takehara also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Monterey pushed their record up to 5-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for North Salinas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey will welcome Hollister at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Salinas, they will be playing at home against Pajaro Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
