Centaurus is a perfect 3-0 against Battle Mountain since September of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Warriors will face off against the Huskies at 11:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Centaurus lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Loveland, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Red Wolves on Friday. Considering the Warriors have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Nora Midness made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Midness was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emery Fannin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August. Kaitlyn Long was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain came into Thursday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Aspen 30-4 on Thursday. The contest marked the Huskies' most dominant victory of the season.
Battle Mountain got a massive performance out of Hallie Holleman, who went 2-for-6 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Perla Chavez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Battle Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aspen only managed nine.
Battle Mountain picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 8-10. As for Centaurus, their record now sits at 20-2.
Battle Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Centaurus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Battle Mountain, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 strikeouts. Will Centaurus keep running through batters, or will the Huskies buck the trend?
Centaurus took their victory against Battle Mountain in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
