After a string of eight wins, the Grossmont Foothillers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Del Norte 60-54. Grossmont found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Several Foothillers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aakash Price, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Price's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellan Hayden , who scored 14 points.
Bailey Barnhard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Del Norte, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Barnhard has scored at least 25% of Del Norte's points. Kiana Cadigan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Grossmont's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Del Norte, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Grossmont will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Eastlake at 6:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Eastlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Grossmont is ranked 65th). Del Norte won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Scripps Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on December 23rd. Scripps Ranch will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
