Softball Recap: Libby Starts Season with Victory at Home

Libby took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Flathead Braves/Bravettes. This was payback for the Loggers, who suffered a 13-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Carmen Kohler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dakota Allen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Vincent, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Flathead is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Libby will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bonners Ferry at 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Flathead, they will face off against Helena at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
