The Mountain Empire Redhawks suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 46-14 loss at the hands of High Tech NC. Mountain Empire has struggled against High Tech NC recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Carli McGhee was Mountain Empire's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead High Tech NC to victory, but perhaps none more so than Analia Barraza, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Barraza is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Hernandez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Mountain Empire's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for High Tech NC, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Empire won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against High Tech SD at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. High Tech SD will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for High Tech NC, they will head out on the road to square off against Gompers Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
