The Vacaville Bulldogs will take on the Campolindo Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Vacaville 3.2, Campolindo 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, Vacaville came up short against Vanden and fell 6-2.
Dallas West was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Vacaville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Whitten, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Another was Sean Moffett, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Campolindo). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Montgomery an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Colin Rutzen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Campolindo got a massive performance out of William Myers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Myers has posted since back in March of 2024. Miles Clayton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Campolindo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Campolindo's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Vacaville, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.
Vacaville beat Campolindo 6-2 in their previous meeting back in February of 2016. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
