McClatchy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Grant Pacers a 10-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 last Wednesday.

Everett Yeske looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Antonio Barber, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe Coronado, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

McClatchy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in six consecutive games.

McClatchy pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Grant, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McClatchy will host Pleasant Grove at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pacers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
