The Esperanza Aztecs are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Borah Lions at 8:00 p.m. on December 28th. One thing working in Esperanza's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
Esperanza has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 33 points or more this season. They breezed by San Jacinto on the road to the tune of 83-50. Given Esperanza's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while San Jacinto is ranked 332nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Esperanza's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madilyn Lam, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The match was Lam's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Muller, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Borah in a 52-37 win over Kuna last Saturday. The victory was just what Borah needed coming off of a 61-40 defeat in their prior contest.
Esperanza's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Borah, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
