Hutchinson had won two straight home games and Robert Hunter did his part to make it three on Friday. The Salthawks enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over the Maize South Mavericks for which the team can thank Hunter, who rushed for 158 yards and one score on only 15 carries, and also threw for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 91 yards.
Hutchinson's defense made their presence known, laying out Reign Illian five times. Max Harris refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Hutchinson got some further help from Davin Morgan: he made six total tackles and defended three passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Maize South's loss came despite strong showings from Stratten Ebers and Illian. Ebers picked up 145 receiving yards and two TDs, while Illian threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns.
Hutchinson's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Maize South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
