The Vista del Lago Eagles waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 62-50 win over Christian Brothers. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Vista del Lago did.
Ella Skrzyniarz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 39 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Jacobosky, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Christian Brothers had strong showings from Joy Omishakin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Aleyah Harmon, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Omishakin also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Novi, who scored ten points.
Vista del Lago is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Christian Brothers, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista del Lago will stay at home for another game and welcome the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Rio Americano will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 807th, while the Eagles are ranked 105th). As for Christian Brothers, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McNair's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matchups.
