Even though the Wilmington Wildcats have not done well against the Reed-Custer Comets recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Wilmington came out on top against Reed-Custer by a score of 44-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wilmington.
Wilmington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Clara Smith, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Liaromatis, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Reed-Custer's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaylee Tribble, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was Tribble's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Mya Beard was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 9 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Reed-Custer were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmington only pulled down eight.
Wilmington's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Reed-Custer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilmington will take on Manteno at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manteno and Wilmington are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Reed-Custer won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Seneca at 6:45 p.m. on November 28th.
