Aquinas has gone a perfect 10-0 against Linfield Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Falcons will face off against the Lions at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aquinas has eight straight victories, Linfield Christian has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Aquinas beat Ontario Christian 9-5.
Gavin Egan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mason Greenhouse was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jonathan Tena was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Aquinas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Linfield Christian has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.46 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Aquinas.
Linfield Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-8-1. As for Aquinas, their record now sits at 23-2.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Aquinas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Linfield Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aquinas took their win against Linfield Christian in their previous meeting on Friday by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
