The Calaveras Red Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 56-36 margin over El Dorado. The victory was familiar territory for Calaveras who now have four in a row.
Calaveras' win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ginger Scheidt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Scheidt has scored at least 25% of Calaveras' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Tapia, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Alana Schneider, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The game was Schneider's 11th in a row with at least ten points.
Calaveras' win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for El Dorado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Calaveras and Vacaville will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Vacaville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 878th, while Calaveras is ranked 438th). El Dorado will finish 2023 at home by hosting Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Casa Roble is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
